A rack that works with a front shock

A customer brought his bike into Bike Works the other day for a tune up. The most interesting thing about this bike is the front rack, which mounts to the crown of a shock fork and the top of the headset. The bike's owner couldn't tell us much about the rack, other than it works quite well and he's logged lots of miles on it. If anybody out there in internetland knows who made this rack, please leave a comment.

Looks like a Tubus Swing to me.

Hi Kent, having enjoyed your blog for some while I am glad I can now be of some service to you. I believe the rack in question is a Tubus Swing Low Rider or at least it's very similar.
Looking forward to your next posting.

Thanks Keith & Gilb! The rack has that well-crafted look of a Tubus. I couldn't figure out a way to look something up just having an image but I figured somebody would be able to ID it.

Old Man Mountain also makes racks that can attach to a front fork with shock.

Hi Kent,

It is indeed the Tubus Swing.

I've also seen a similar one made by RST for one of their own forks on a French woman's touring bike when I lived in Bellingham. Don't know if that one was available in the US or not though.

Cheers,
Steve

Nice to know there's another option besides the OMM racks. I really like the OMM (Old Man Mountain) racks, but it's always nice to have options!
